There is talk of Archbishop Fulton Sheen be declared a saint by the Catholic Church.

In December of 1999, on the twentieth anniversary of his death, Cardinal John O'Connor authorized the private investigation into the life of Archbishop Sheen by the Archbishop Fulton John Sheen Foundation. In August 2002, Bishop Daniel Jenky of the Diocese of Peoria formally opened the cause for Bishop Sheen's canonization, in October the Vatican formally approved the opening.
